Love, hope and peace

Today is the 4th Advent. Many people do not get ready for Christmas internally. I have a friend that showed me how important it is to get ready for Christmas. Christmas is commercialized. Last night when the girls came, they are staying for Christmas, Kelsi looked at me and said we never decorate that much. This is when I realized, it is important to me to have it looking special. Christmas is special to me, it's not about presents under the tree. It's not about who got the most expensive gift. It is about the hope that was born in Bethlehem. It is about the child that was God sent. It is about eternal love, forgiveness and giving to people who aren't as fortunate as we. My husband and I decided to do three presents for the radio stations senior Christmas. I had no idea how many older people had no one. Also with the help of a lot of people and my two neighbors boys, we did Secret Santa for two older couples and a single older lady. Not much, but the heart was there. So...

Secret Santa and his Elf's or is it hope?

I have been working on making someones Christmas different, and I thought I was doing just fine. Older couples in their 90's and a lady that is living on her own and basically having no body. Do I wish I could do more. Yes, I wish!! What is Christmas? Is it about Black Friday and spending money, none of us really have. Is it about this materialistic chaos that we are producing ourselves? Personally, I think not...but who am I just a small voice in a small town in Northern New York. After Sandy hit one of my son's friend got deployed to help, he came back and showed me his pictures. I thought : I am blessed that it didn't hit us as hard, but he said something that caught my attention. He said: This was the rich area that got hit! The area where people throw a bike away because a brake pedal is broken. I looked up and said, it is easier for them to buy a new bike than to fix the old. Scary thought! So, what is it to me? I went to Michael's Craft Store yesterday, foun...

Fingerless gloves

Hello, yes me again. Here are my newest fingerless gloves I made.

As time goes by, are you able to say it was good?

How close happiness and sadness is I never understood until this week. As we celebrated three birthday's in our family. My son's 21st, my brother's 38th, and my 46th we also had a memorial service for my aunt that has passed away this week and that on Thanksgiving. Do we have reason's to be thankful? Yes, we all do and I would like to focus on my reason's for a moment. First, my boy's. Can I be thankful that they are growing into loving and handsome men? Oh yes. Both of them have a heart out of gold. This week my youngest just came up and hugged me....and we are talking about a 18 year old. The older one as mentioned turned 21. Did he go out and party? YES, as he should but his younger brother was his DD and at 2 am I got a message text message saying: We are on the way home! Does anyone realize how huge this is? I do and I am beyond thankful for that! Second, my family in Germany. All of them, all, thought of me on my birthday even though they were gettin...

Where does health start?

American is stunned about child and adoleshence obesity, after my encounter with Primary School Lunches yesterday, I am not so much anymore. Are you asking yourself why? Well, let me tell you my story. In the last week I was invited to have two lunch dates with children out of my neighborhood. Normally, I don't have time for this since I work and go to school fulltime but right now I am without a job and school hasn't started up yet again. First lunch wasn't too bad tacos...even though I asked myself what kind of meat it was that I was eating. While sitting there I was looking around...what do the children eat? What do they bring from home? Not much that I was impressed me. Then came my second lunch date and my second experience with a school cafeteria...don't get me wrong I know they make food for hundred of kids, and the children pay just $2 per meal, but what I ate and saw was a bit too much formy tastebutts. It was hamburger day with tater tots, rolls, ham sand...

Crafts, Quilts and other little try outs

Image
Lately I have noticed that I am thinking about multitasking more, why most likely because I have a break from college. Which means I have way to much time on my hand! So, I have tried things out. I made a rug out of of fabric, pin cushings, dish rags out of cotton and so on. It's just been a pleasure trying new things out, and hoping that one day I actually make money with the things I make. Right now I know it is a hobby but I just enjoy producing nicknacks. So this is my try out this weekend, like it? Have a good monday dear bloggers
