Merry Christmas! Surprises I like

Image
Good morning, so it was 4 am when I was wide awake and my husband asked me the question: Where do you want the frame to be? Normally I don't expect questions like that at 4 am. Give me a cup of coffee first, let me check my emails and let the dogs out first, then you are able to talk to me. Needless to say I have the best husband ever since I got my long arm quilter for christmas. Now this means to me learning how a new machine works, but it also means I am blessed. On top of getting this awesome machine I got a new shipment of fabric in? Do you wonder what kind? Hello Kitty fabric for all the little girls out there. Now if that isn't beautiful fabric right?  But did you expect something different from me? I really should do a blow out sale for the people that enjoy fabric just like me!! With that said it is time for the next cup of coffee and the rest of the baking I should be doing for the wonderful family of mine. Wishing all of you out...

Beautiful firefighter rag baby quilt

Here we go again. I had some time and I had found this fabric so I made this quilt in memory of my brother who was a firefighter when he was alive.

Quiet Sunday Mornings

Sunday mornings how I like them , sitting in my slider looking out of patio window and drinking a cup of coffee. The bird is sitting on his perch, Willow our RagDoll Cat is cleaning herself next to my silder and Mia, our Labradoddle is in the recliner next to me snoring! Since I forced my brain to shut off last night and sleep nine hours I feel some kind of energy I haven't felt in months. ToDo List for today: Study for Biology, Work on my Lab Report, study math since I have an exam this week, cut my orders, finish my Tshirt Quilt so I can sent it off on Monday...and then I can sew for pleasure. But first things first, I need to take Mia for a long walk. This dog enjoys when she can run and play. She is such a calm loving dog. Do you sometimes feel like life is passing way to fast? And you are asking yourself why am I sitting here. Life is precious and personally I would prefer to go to the big city on weekends, go to Canada, see plays and museums. But we can't right now,...

Toddler Boys Rag Quilt

Image
Once upon a time, there was an older student that was just very very tired of studying. So instead of sitting down and looking at the books, she started sewing with a fabric that reminded her of the Raggdy Ann and stitched Animals. It reminded her of a blanket from a little boy she once knew, it reminded her of her little brother and his blankets he carried around. So instead of doing what she was suppose to do, she sat down and made her machine soar. Out came the most delightful toddler rag quilt just for a boy to love.

Crazy Weather Patterns put them into a Quilt

Image
Looking out of the window, I thought to myself this evening. How carzy will it get? It was 54,cold and stormy. I went to the barn and those clouds rolled in. Just like in this pictures the clouds came it...and then it started pooring. Now call me crazy and/or nuts but I like weather like that. Personally I think it is really awesome, and I wish I could put that into a quilt. The dynamics alone are beyond awesome. My next quest was to check online if there are more pictures where weather seems to be nuts...and sure enough there were very interesting ones out there for ...I thought I would put them on here. One of these days I will take one of them and transfer it into a quilt!!!

Creative Weekend

For once a little bit of time for myself and on top of that time to put in fabric!!

Pumpkin pie, fabric, History and Biology fit together how?

So I sat...and sat...typed away thinking to myself. History in the USA...interesting. Bush senior and Clinton ..definitaly a challenge...Honors Program...really what did you get yourself into. After 8 hours of being glued to the computer, while checking emails in between and making sure facebook was still there I had 8 pages done! So, I got up...realized that my butt was hurting...and yes getting old sucks...( as I am writing this right now my feet are falling asleep and they are freezing) I decided to slow cook my first pumpkin. When you have a family like I do...they like pie and anything that goes with FOOOOOOD. While the smell of orange peel mixed with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla was moving through the house, I started on the dummies that my teenage son needs for his beautiful haunted trail. Since one of the dummies will be used in a butcher scene we had to stick a pumpkin into it - like my teenagers would say - guts and gore mom!! Did I at any time mention...

Helloween and other treats

With Helloween approaching I am in overload! First for me that means midterm (I wrote an 8 page paper yesterday -  not done yet) and then our boys are doing a haunted trail. Personally I think it is a great idea, there are 17 teenager involved and this little village has so nothing for teenager -  other then getting in trouble not much to do here. So here I am in my spare time (yeah like I have any of that right) putting dummies together, making ghost, asking for supplies on craigslist....I wish I would have more cheesecloth but I don't. One of the scences is a butcher shop -  so the dummie is made out of old clothes and we will put a pumpkin in the middle so the butcher can rip some of the inside out. They will have an insane asylum -  you think those walls will be padded? I still think a ghost that will come down on them would be great Well so many ideas -  just not enough time. I hope this village will like what the teenager are putting out there. ...

Rainy cold on top of a flat tire

So you wake up and have tons of plans. I had coffee started studying, worked on my exam...so far everything was going great...until I stepped outside. Really a flat tire? So I got the compressor out... Amanda blew the tire, dropped her off at football and then I went to Walmart and to sit and wait...for new tires I couldn't afford. Can you say...that was the money for our anniversary dinner. Let's see what comes next

Beauty comes from within

While I sit here in the sun while drinking my iced latte my thoughts go to my dear friend cindy. She was suppose to have a routine operation. Now she is in the ICU. While I send her all the energy and love I can, I remember when we first met. We were stationed in germany and I ordered fabric from ebay. She was the seller. That was 6 years ago or has it been 7. I don't remember. We have shared so much with each other. Stories about stupid teenager. Husbands that droves nuts and menopause symptoms that make no sense. At the end I have to say thank you for being the friend you have been. Thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for talkin your time to be my friend. With this said...keep on fighting woman.

Run in with Teenagers!!

Have you ever had a fight with a Teenager? I did the other day and it wasn't much fun. So the end of the story was...I got hurt deeply by my son. Worried sick about him, and asked myself: Why am I doing all of this? Remembering back to my teenage years I have to thank God on my knees that nothing happened to me. I also have to admit, that I gave my parents a run for their money! Needless to say as soon as I can reach my parents I will apologize, since the feeling I had after this awful fight with my son is something I never want to experience again. Life isn't easy at all not as a teenager or a parent. Good thing is though that my son and I talked things out the next day. We will find a way, we always have, always will!! Until next time bloggers

First T-shirt Quilt ever

Image
I am getting onto new turf, one that I have never tried before. Am I scared...YES I AM. But then again...it will be ok. I started a t-shirt quilt for a young man named Matt, don't think he knows I am doing it. Here are some squares that are cut out already I will keep you updated on the next steps while I am prepareing myself for an interesting day while listening to the Watermusik from Haendel. Well I am a stepfurther now Here is the layout and so I started cutting and ironing and putting it together So I went on cutting and ironing and then sure enough I ran out of threat.... really I am a quilter and I run out of threat? Well I could have used pink one but I think the young man wouldn't have like that one. So far so good... right ....or maybe not??? Or am I nuts for doing this? Who knows right?

What am I up too?

Image
Don't you ever ask yourself that are people up to over the weekend? I am living up in the North of New York, and I mean north...we had the Pirate Festival in Alex Bay, which is a beautiful thing to watch. But for me it was a stay at home weekend with lots of work since I had to finish to quilts. One for Serenity, a baby that will be born this month, and one I-spy quilt that will be in my Etsyshop for sale. Would you like to see the outcome? So, this was my weekend. Next to being a mom, cleaning the house, baking a cake, deciding to make home made pizza and sitting a talking with my friend Amanda. I have to say it was definately productive. Are you that productive at times? Does it happen often? Sometimes in a while I have such a productive weekend. It seems to be a stress relieve for me, and with my semester starting up the end of August again, I better get as much sewing in as I can!!! Until next time, dear blogger world. Be safe.
