Run in with Teenagers!!

Have you ever had a fight with a Teenager? I did the other day and it wasn't much fun. So the end of the story was...I got hurt deeply by my son. Worried sick about him, and asked myself: Why am I doing all of this? Remembering back to my teenage years I have to thank God on my knees that nothing happened to me. I also have to admit, that I gave my parents a run for their money! Needless to say as soon as I can reach my parents I will apologize, since the feeling I had after this awful fight with my son is something I never want to experience again. Life isn't easy at all not as a teenager or a parent. Good thing is though that my son and I talked things out the next day. We will find a way, we always have, always will!! First T-shirt Quilt ever

Image
I am getting onto new turf, one that I have never tried before. Am I scared...YES I AM. But then again...it will be ok. I started a t-shirt quilt for a young man named Matt, don't think he knows I am doing it. Here are some squares that are cut out already I will keep you updated on the next steps while I am prepareing myself for an interesting day while listening to the Watermusik from Haendel. Well I am a stepfurther now Here is the layout and so I started cutting and ironing and putting it together So I went on cutting and ironing and then sure enough I ran out of threat.... really I am a quilter and I run out of threat? Well I could have used pink one but I think the young man wouldn't have like that one. So far so good... right ....or maybe not??? Or am I nuts for doing this? Who knows right?

What am I up too?

Image
Don't you ever ask yourself that are people up to over the weekend? I am living up in the North of New York, and I mean north...we had the Pirate Festival in Alex Bay, which is a beautiful thing to watch. But for me it was a stay at home weekend with lots of work since I had to finish to quilts. One for Serenity, a baby that will be born this month, and one I-spy quilt that will be in my Etsyshop for sale. Would you like to see the outcome? So, this was my weekend. Next to being a mom, cleaning the house, baking a cake, deciding to make home made pizza and sitting a talking with my friend Amanda. I have to say it was definately productive. Are you that productive at times? Does it happen often? Sometimes in a while I have such a productive weekend. It seems to be a stress relieve for me, and with my semester starting up the end of August again, I better get as much sewing in as I can!!! Until next time, dear blogger world. Be safe.

Childhood dreams and real life

Image
I have been thinking a lot lately. Thinking of what life used to be and how it is now. Of the dreams I have had when I was younger and how they affect my life now. Growing up in Europe I was dreaming of the USA. The Land of Opportunity. You watch Bonanza, the little house in the prairie, North and South, and other movies. You heard about people that left the country and made a fortune. And on top of that there was my grandfather, who was swedish and his brother, that actually made a fortune over here decades ago. So little naive me, thought it would be great to come over here. Dreaming about the big house I would have and that I would drive big cars and that I would never worry about anything. Boy, childhood dreams, wonderful just not realistic! So here we are thirty years later, I live in the country I was dreaming about. As a family we struggle daily to survive. Recession is kicking our butt. Working two to three jobs to pay the bills. Am I still thankful? Yes...

Good morning, have you heard?

Have you heard? What you are asking. Well quite a few things! 1) School starts soon again, and we are all sitting in our chairs and can't wait as parents right? Wrong!! I can wait for all the cuts the government will do in the Education System. I can wait to to see how much the government will take away from Special Education Program and I can wait to see how many things our children won't learn because the funds aren't there! Do I blame the government? The one that is in office? Yes and no. No because there was a different government in office when this country went to war. One that they should have never gone to in the first place. The USA is not the police officer in this world! Second the USA will not stop terrorists, because they are all over the world not just in two countries. Putting that aside let's focus on the outrageous costs of this machinary called war. Ten years and counting???? Really how dumb does our government think we are? Who pays for ...

Drama of the world - change it - change your thinking!

Image
I am sitting here at work asking myself why is there so much drama in the world? For instance Wallstreet crashes, which will effect all of us. In Europe the money crisis is obvious, in Africa people are dying of famine, in Asia they have more rains, mudslides, hunger, crashes and and and. So I turn to some pictures of the past: Don't we all feel like the witch in the wizard of oz once in a while? Like something big dropped on us? But what can we do to not let the negativity of the world and our lifes affect how we live? What can you and I do to be positive in a world that seems to be just negative? And where are we will to focus on the little things that matter in our lifes? First of all we should focus on what we have! We might have more then we think! For instance, are you in a loving relationship? If so you are blessed beyond words!! Do you have food on your table? Even if it isn't what you normally would like to have and eat, you have more on you...

Making a weird I-SPY Rag Quilt

Image
I don't think I ever made such a weird, crazy rag quilt before. I am using all the squares that I have left over and I am making a big I -SPY Rag Quilt. It is really fun, doing something nuts...So I thought I would put in the progress of the squares in here. Do I know this blog isn't long...yes but I hope you enjoy the pics.

Throw away society - cat found in dumpster left to die!!

Image
Saturday my neighbor and told me an unbelievable story. She found a three week old kitten in a tupperware container. Thrown away like garbage. Left to die. I took the cat in as a foster mom since I already have two cats. The kitten is so precious, but I don't understand how people can do that. Is america really such a society that we don't care about a single life anymore. Some people discard babies in the garbage others animals. Furniture isn't build to last anymore and if we are tired of our stoneware we just replace it also. Where does it take us? Down the lane of owing other people more money. Not a good road. But that is something I will write about tomorrow. Until next time blogger world
