Finally in the mood for quilting

Image
Finally after a my surgery I am in the mood and the right mind set to quilt again. I bet you are asking yourself: Why? What happened? I would say it is called being burned out. Between work, getting a degree and on top of that being a single parent because the husband is deployed, it got to the point where I didn't even wanted to touch fabric. So it took me forever to get the quilt into the frame yesterday. I'm still not allowed to lift heavy after the operation, so my dear hubby get the sewing machine over to the table, with the sentence....DON'T you dare pick the machine up!!! Excuse me? But I did listen to him, he is very concerned with me!! So he sat and played some games while I quilted, our boys where all busy with either friends. girl friend or work so we put some music in the computer and just had a very calm and quiet afternoon. Now this morning, I am using the quietness in the house and I go on  quilting. I should get this one done today. And monday it is ...

Like I don't have enough to do right? Fact is I love working on them if I have time. This one is for a friends daughter. I found awesome "Underwater Fabrics" like sea plants and dolphins. (The daughter likes dolphins) This one should be getting quilted today. Then I had nothing better to do then to get my a magazine...right....and I found this absolutely awesome pattern (patter by Jinny Beyer) in McCall's Quilting and I fell in love...so guess what I am cutting....128 different strips to get this quilt done...isn't is georgous? I wish I would have a machine to do all the cutting!!! Tja und ich hatte nichts besseres zu tu...

Did I miss the new year?

I can't believe that I missed the new year here? But then I have news that I haven't had in a long time. My husband finally came home from his deployment. Yeah, is it easy after a year of seperation. No!! It is not, do you ask yourself why? Let's think about this for a little while, you the wife have to hold everything up at home. Which by the way is a job in itself, then for me it was taking care of the teenagers, the house, the dog the cat, the car, work and my college stuff...not much you would say right... but then there is the emotional side, everytime your better half tells you something that isn't so great you start worrying about them too. Then their is the soldier's side. One year in hostile territory, not much to do, always looking over your shoulder never knowing if you will get home but you try your best to stay alive and well. You also have to deal with the factor that you might loose close friends and coworker's to roadside bombs, attacks or wha...

Tinkerbell with Attitude

Have you ever had one of those days, when nothing seems to be right? When you felt alone and burned out? I have had a weekend like that! It started in tears and I didn't even know why. So it was up to me to do something for me. Instead of taking the car and running of I decided to use the negative energy I felt to be creative. In the morning I went outside, it was in the 50's took my cappucino (the real thing) grabbed my bible and sat outside on my swing. Did I ever had a conversation? Oh yes! I talked to God, my brother, my grandmother. I know that God is the only one that hears me, and that my grandma and my brother are gone, but it felt good just to say things I felt out loud! I soaked the sun it, even though it was cold. After this long talk with God I went inside and started sewing. Out of these negative feelings and thoughts came tinkerbell with attitude. In the afternoon I took a break, taking a nap again outside covered un...

Amelie's Quilt Top

Image
Good morning world, I have done it, first big big quilt top done. My niece Amelie, asked for one. I have looked for her fabric for 1 1/2 years, then I started. But it has been a rough road, I suddenly had to finish my degree at work, which meant studdying and paperwork, so Amelie's Quilt Top was put on hold. But finally I got it done and I am soooo happy and to prove that the dog loves it too I will also put THE PIC ON HERE
