Why tell me why are all the embroidery programs so expensive?

Image
Here I was 5 years ago, I had some money left over and I bought myself a Bernina Aurora 440. I was in heaven, awesome machine. Until last year when I realized that...yes the machine was awesome but I either needed a new computer which was a 16 to 32 bit (old) not the 64 bit I had, or I needed to invest $600 for a new embroidery program. So in order for me to go on using my machine, I either had to get an old/new laptop...great...or a new program...double whammmmey...!!! Do the companies really think that we have that kind of money laying around? No wonder so many people decide to get software of interesting website, not that I say it is correct or it makes it right but it is understandable. So I am waiting for a rich uncle to show up and tell me that he would spoil me, or I am waiting for my husband to win the lottery, me making enough money, or a miracle ...which we all know won't be happening. But then maybe Bernina is reading my dear blog, and they have a heart with a moth...

Families are like quilts

Image
Random thought of the day: Families are like quilts, no of the pieces are alike but putting them together makes them perfect. I have thought about this blog long and hard since it isn't an easy one to write. Yesterday, like every year, we had to bring our daughter's back to their mother. Like every year, it is beyond emotional for everybody involved. And driving back I thought, our family is just like a patchwork quilt. Our family consists out of five children, which two don't live with us all the time, one is adopted and the other two are mine that I brought with me. What wonderful baggage my husband and I have. Five wonderful inspiring children. But it isn't always as easy as it look, especially when there are different parenting styles come into the game and the playing of parents and the not so easy relationships between the adults. So let's take a step back and see what is important. The children and only them. It isn't about the adult's its ab...

Caitlin's Butterfly Quilt

Image
There was once a little girl called Caitlin, blond hair and a smile that melts your heart. This little girls love butterflies and always wanted to be a princess. So mom came up to me and said I am soooo tired of trying to find a comforter for her in the stores that would give her what she likes! I told her let me send you a picture of fabric I have and you decide if the fabric is what you want! After sending the pics all I hear was YES JUST WHAT I WANTED. So off I went into my barn and I started sewing a twin size rag quilt for Caitlin. And here are the results: And this is what mom wrote me this morning, made me smile Kelli R: Caitlin LOVES her "butterfly blanket"!!!!!! She got so mad at me when I folded it down for her to get in bed! She kept telling me, "No Mommy!!! Butterfly Blanket!!!!!" lol Now dear blogger world you tell me what you think. I am happy with the result

Another one bites the DUST...why USA? Closing of the ONLY bookstore we have

Today I came across the Email from the Borders CEO informing the people of Watertown, that the ONLY bookstore we have in Watertown is closing. They are bankrupt. Hello world out there where is the world coming too? We already have enough children that don't know how to read anymore. Doesn't the USA realize how important reading is? All the electronics we have don't bring back a good book. Sooner or later the E-book people get tired of charging their little friends and what will the do when there is a blackout? What happened to sitting down with a good book, a blanket and a cup of tea or hot chocolate. What happened to reading to your children before they go to bed? What happened to realizing how important reading is for speech, for proper language and knowledge? I am just absolutely shocked, and again I have to say...which way do you want to go USA? It is interesting even though I have children with dislexia, I read to them every night instead of letting them watch T...

Heatwave and other thoughts!

While I sit inside since we have 100 degrees in Northern New York and I mean NORTHERN New York, I wonder about older people up here in the region and how they cope with the heat. More questions arise when I look at the way people have built and still building their house? Hello people up here in New York do you know that the winter's are freezing and the summer's are sizzling? And still they are building houses out of WOOD...with DRYWAll. Do I know that houses and the way they are build in Europe are more expensive, yes, I do, but they withstand hurricans, tornadoes and they keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which means they are more energy efficiant. When is the USA realizing that the times when a dishwasher became a millioniar are over? When is the USA realizing that energy isn't cheap and when will they realize that our future should be greener then our past? It is scarry to think that the USA take things for granted. It is all about us, and no no no ...

Explosion of cotton prices

Image
Well who is not concerned about the recession? We all are. But then there are companies that make money off of us. Companies for instance like the COTTON - FABRIC industries, which are telling us that...oh because of the poor cotton harvest last year, they had to raise the prices 50%. Really common companies how stupid do you think your customers are? Fact is you are getting your fabric for less then $2 a yard...and you sell it for $12 to $18 a yard...in the stores. Surely JoAnn's and other companies want their shares, but Hello can you say...OUTRAGEOUS!! Making money of people that are already suffering in this recession? Instead of buying cotton in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India...how about doing what the USA did long time ago? Grow it in your own country. Surely is it cheaper for you? Yes because you dont' have to employ us..which means your profit is even bigger, but hey what can I say WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE - NOT
